The WBCSC or the West Bengal College Service Commission has recently released an advertisement for SET or State Eligibility Test. This particular Computer-based Test and Interview procedure is conducted for the recruitment of Assistant Professors.

The State Eligibility Test or SET is a regular examination conducted across the state of West Bengal by the West Bengal College Service Commission. The main purpose of this test is to select efficient future Assistant Professors.

Education Qualification Complete Info:

For the posts of Assistant Professor, one must comply with the basic educational qualifications. As an Assistant Professor, the main rule to follow before applying for the same is:

  • Candidate must be a Master’s Degree Holder
  • Candidates appearing in the final year of their Master’s Degree or awaiting their results can also apply

Apart from these, the candidates are supposed to have secured more than 55% of marks in aggregate. No rounding off will be considered while evaluation.

Quota:

The reserved class category applicants have a few exemptions and benefits though. Those are mentioned as follows:

  • The candidates from the reserved classes need to have secured 50% marks
  • The candidates from the reserved classes need to secure at least 35% marks in both the papers of SET 2018

The top 6% of the examination’s result will be considered for the interview process. The candidates from the General Category, however, have to secure at least 40% in both the papers of the State Eligibility Test 2018.

Examination Fee:

The examination fee is different for candidates from different categories. The examination fees can only be paid online or via e-challan generated online at any branch of the United Bank of India.

The examination fee for the various categories are as follows:

  • General Category: Rs. 1000/-
  • Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer): Rs. 500/-
  • Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes / Persons with Disabilities / Transgender: Rs. 250/-
